Iraq al-Amir, meaning "Caves of The Prince", is the name not only of the cave system on the northwest side of Wadi Al-Seer, but of the whole area and small town in the valley.
Iraq Al-Amir is within the municipality of Amman in the Jordan Valley. Located about 15 km southwest of the town of Wadi Al-Seer, it has a population of about 6,000 people. Sandwiched in between rolling hills and valleys, the village of Iraq Al-Amir is just 45 minutes’ drive from Amman.
Iraq Al-Amir is a perfect example of beautiful rural Jordan that is home to lush green slopes and fig-trees. Iraq Al-Amir is situated on the Jordan (hiking) Trail and is a place where Iraq al-Amir Women Cooperative Society aims to make women financially independent and to raise their standard of living.

Iraq Al-Amir Women Cooperative Society has provided training projects for more than (150) women from all villages of Wadi Seer on various handicrafts and it is managed and run by women and ladies who are members of the Society which created many job opportunities for women of all ages. The Handicraft Village produces many different products through the different workshops it has Hand-Made Fabric Clear Soap, Ceramic, and Pottery, Chemicals-Free Hand-Made Paper workshops, a showroom, and a tourist Center. They also prepare traditional lunches for tourists. ​
Local Caves Experience
Iraq al-Amir is home to many caves that date back to the copper age and can be explored. It is also nearby to the site of Quasar Al Abet, which is the only ancient Greek site that survives in Jordan today. ​
