At Zaman Tours, sustainability is at the heart of our mission. Over the past two years, we have made significant progress in integrating sustainable practices into every aspect of our operations. This report highlights our achievements, initiatives, and dedication to encouraging a more eco-conscious tourism industry.
Zaman Tours has actively worked to meet approximately 150 sustainability criteria to achieve Travelife Partner status. Our goal in the near future is to obtain Travelife Certification—the highest recognition in the program.
We prioritize fair employment practices by maintaining formal contracts for all of our office employees. We have developed a working agreement for tour guides that outlines their role in informing clients about sustainability practices.
Training sessions for tour guides have been conducted to cover essential topics such as child protection, animal welfare, ethical souvenir buying, responsible tourism practices, and waste management during tours.
We value partnerships with locally owned and managed accommodations and activities suppliers and, promote local businesses by recommending nearby restaurants and shops to our clients.
We collect client feedback allowing us to improve our sustainability practices based on their responses.
We provide clear guidance to our customers on local legislation related to the purchase antiquities, protected plants and animals. A list of illegal souvenirs in Jordan and recommended sustainable purchases is included in a customer information file.
To reduce environmental impact, we have adopted sustainable office solutions such as bulk purchasing to minimize packaging; switching to recycled paper for internal printing; reducing of 90% in printing by transitioning all promotional materials to digital formats and continuously update our website to feature itineraries, programs, and activities; promoting reusing paper for notes and drafts; utilize double-sided printing when necessary and implementing eco-friendly cleaning materials.
We monitor our energy and water consumption monthly, allowing us to adapt and reduce usage effectively. Our energy conservation measures include changing all the office lights to energy-saving LEDs, setting computers to energy-saving mode, leading to lower energy bills and increased awareness among our staff.
